Telecommunications Software Security Architecture

Suomeksi

The goal of the project is to develop a general purpose security architecture for Internet-like networks based on strong cryptography.

In 1998 we laid the foundation for this project by implementing SPKI certificates in Java 2. The certificates can be used for instance to extend the Java 2 security architecture to support distributed security policy management.

In 1999 we are continuing the work by implementing ISAKMP/IKE to support other authorisation applications. Furter, we are researching the use of DNS for distributed certificate storage and elliptic curve cryptography to keep the certificates as small as possible. A new area is the research to the forthcoming Finnish National Electronic Identity card.
