SPKI certificates in CORBA based distributed applications

Tuomo Lampinen

Introduction

This subproject researches the use of SPKI certificates with CORBA based distributed applications. So far distributed applications have largely depended on centralized security architectures. In open networks like the Internet distributed security architectures would have many advantages. SPKI certificates along with CORBA Security Service provide a good basis for implementing distributed applications, which can take advantage of distributed access control. This subproject researches the implementation of this kind of systems, and their potential advantages over more traditional forms of access control.

Goals

The goal of this subproject is to combine the authorization certificates defined by the Simple Public Key Infrastructure (SPKI) with CORBA Security Service in order to provide a decentralized access control architecture for CORBA based distributed applications.
